Communications Coordinator

About EPIC: The Ethanol Promotion and Information Council (EPIC) is a nonprofit organization of ethanol producers and industry leaders who have come together to spread the word about the benefits of ethanol through information and promotional programs.

SUMMARY: Responsible for assisting the communications team with all public relations and member communications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist the communications team in all general PR functions including clips, distribution of news releases, updating press kits, etc.
  • Assist the team in writing and development of the company newsletter and other promotional and communications materials
  • Assist with appropriate and timely updating of the EPIC member website, www.EPICinfo.org
  • Assist in all member communications, activities and projects
  • Responsible for preparing and sending all materials to new members
  • Responsible for building and pulling lists for a variety of mailings and distributions
  • Assist staff in other areas and projects as needed
  • Some travel may be required

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a ?go-getter? personality, be detailed-oriented, and possess excellent writing and creative skills. Must have four-year college degree in journalism, a PR emphasis is preferred but not required. This is an entry level position so 0-1 year internship and/or experience requested but not required. Portfolio available upon request.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must have good general office skills. Should have excellent oral and written communication skills as well as customer service skills. Good organizational skills important. Should have ability to coordinate a number of different duties and functions at the same time. Must be able to work closely with other persons in coordinating other duties. Able to use a PC to include accompanying software programs within the system. Must be a quick learner of programs such as Lexis-Nexis, PR Newswire, Bacons, etc.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers, which can cause muscle strain. The employee may have to do some lifting of supplies and materials from time to time. The employee must spend long hours in intense concentration and must also spend long hours on the computer entering information which requires attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
