Coming Home to Fun Cup Racing

Greg Clough knows his way around the pits and paddocks at a race track. Born into the sport, Greg watched his father race in Brisbane, Australia while growing up. It was only natural that Greg would want to get involved. Starting with go-carts and then progressing to road track racing, Greg was very successful in his pursuit to excel and won several local championships. It was 27 years later when Greg traveled to England for holiday that he first became aware of Fun Cup racing.

After traveling around Europe and exploring for a year or so in a beat-up camper van, Greg decided to settle down in England and get a job. It wasn't until he started to become accustom to living in England that he really even noticed Fun Cup racing. Ironically, Greg happened to meet a gentleman who was involved in the Fun Cup series and really got Greg's curiosity up. Greg wanted to see what all the excitement was about so he decided to take his friend's advice and went to his first Fun Cup series race as a spectator.

Watching his first race gave Greg that feeling he knew as a boy in Brisbane again. He felt that excitement and exhilaration bubbling up to the surface and realized that Fun Cup racing was what he wanted to do.

So, Greg bought his first car and became involved with Fun Cup racing. Working into the management aspect of the sport, Greg spent the next eight years racing and helping organize races throughout England. When the opportunity presented itself to come to America and start Fun Cup series racing here, Greg knew it was the right move.

In 2006, Greg moved to California and began laying the foundation for the series in the US. Part of that foundation was to build a factory to manufacture Fun Cup series cars. If the U.S. Fun Cup series didn't build their own cars, the cost to ship them from Belgium, where all of the European Fun Cup cars are made, would be too expensive and prohibit growth of the sport.

Ensuring a strong foundation for the U.S. Fun Cup series included many tedious and time-consuming projects, but none as satisfying as making arrangements to use nothing but E85 ethanol in all of the cars.

The Fun Cup series is dedicated to using E85 ethanol in all of its cars because it not only benefits the racers by giving them more power, exceptional acceleration and performance while running cooler to help protect their engines, but also because it helps the environment and the economy.

After all of the hard work, long hours and dedication to the Fun Cup series that Greg has put in over the last 18 months it seems hard to believe that his enthusiasm and dedication for the sport wouldn't wane, but as Greg puts it, "running the Fun Cup series is fun, exciting and like coming home."
