How can I help?

The new guy on the track.

Schaun Schnathorst of Huron SD got his start in drag racing shortly after graduation from a technical college with a degree in commercial art and computer graphics in 1989. He raced for trophies at the local track until he decided to step it up a notch and pursue racing as more of a career five years ago.

Now in his rookie season with Team Ethanol, Schaun uses ethanol in his SuperComp, a Chevrolet 920HP rear engine dragster with a 565-cubic-inch engine that produces 920 horsepower.

"It's important that we continue to educate the nation on the benefits of ethanol and its reduction of emissions of green house gasses. Ethanol is also a performance enhancing fuel that reduces carbon build up and wear on engine components."

"I will be working with the NHRA to try to develop a way to allow the alcohol classes, such as TAFC and TAD, to switch over to or allow ethanol in lieu of methanol in the upcoming race seasons," he said.

The 5'9", 180-pound, 39-year old driver is married and has one daughter.
